Foot care can also help working adults whose feet are affected by standing, walking, construction boots, heavy footwear, or physical jobs.
Foot Care Nurses
What does a foot care nurse do?
As a foot care nurse, I help clients assess, maintain, and protect their feet through regular nursing foot care, treatment, education, and prevention-focused support. This can be especially helpful for older adults, people with diabetes, people with circulation or sensation concerns, and anyone who has difficulty safely managing toenails, corns, calluses, thickened nails, or foot discomfort on their own.
Assessing foot health
Foot care appointments may include checking the skin, nails, pressure areas, comfort concerns, circulation-related concerns, sensation changes, and visible foot health issues.
Providing nursing foot care
Care may include toenail trimming, nail shaping, thickened nail care, corn treatment, callus management, ingrown nail support, and practical care for common foot concerns.
Supporting prevention
Regular foot checks and early attention to foot concerns may help reduce discomfort, prevent worsening issues, and support safer walking, standing, footwear, and mobility.
Providing education
Foot care education may include skin care, nail care, footwear tips, self-monitoring, hygiene guidance, and simple ways to maintain foot comfort between appointments.
Foot care is not only for older adults
Many clients are older adults, but nursing foot care can also help working adults, people who wear heavy boots, people who stand or walk for long shifts, and anyone dealing with painful toenails, corns, calluses, or foot discomfort.
